Visiting Urbino is like travelling back in time to the 1400's when Duke Federico II da Montefeltro governed the city. A passionate patron of the arts, the Duke's cosmopolitan court was frequented by the most illustrous writers, poets, scientists, painters, such as Piero della Francesca and Raphael (a native of Urbino), and architects like Luciano Laurana and Francesco di Giorgio Martini, who contributed to the splendid design and esthetics of Urbino. Prof. Benevolo's guided tour of the Ducal Palace is the highlight of the trip as student's experience a perfect example of what Renaissance courtly life was really like.

In the pictures above students enjoy the panorama from the park overlooking the 'ideal
Renaissance city' after touring the ducal palace.
